OCTOBER 6, 2014

Boys Cross Country Team
The boys cross country team ran at the Fostoria Invitational on Saturday and took 2nd out of 39 teams.  They were beaten by the top junior high boys team in Ohio.  They were led, as usual, by Noah Scheffer and Jacob Reaume who ran great races in the cold and wind to finish in the top 5 out of the 300 runners.  Steven Kraine ran a great race to finish 3rd for the team followed by Cade Sutterfield and 7th grader Noah Bock.  Other runners who ran exceptionally well were Tyler German and Reece Thomas.  Their trophy is on display in the office.

The boys have 2 races this week.  They will run at the 3rd and final SEC cross county meet on Wednesday and then on Satruday they will run at Monroe to try to win their 3rd county championship in a row.

Girls Cross Country Team
The girls' cross country team had an outstanding showing at the Fostoria Invitational this past weekend, taking 4th place out of 19 teams.  Despite cold weather, winds, a giant hill, and crossing a bridge, three runners managed to run their lifetime personal best times.  Congratulations to Breanna Everden, Dayna Dec, and Gillian Hertzsch!  Additional congratulations goes out to Alli Smith for a 9th place finish and to Baylee Canning for a 26th place finish out of 176 runners.  The lady broncos next race is this Wednesday
 at Tecumseh.

8th Grade Red Volleyball Team
The 8th grade Red volleyball team traveled to Saline for the SEC tournament Saturday and came up short losing in the finals to the host team.  The Red team started with a split with Tecumseh 25-17, 26-27 getting the first match jitters out.  The girls followed the split with some dominating performances defeating Ypsilanti Lincoln 25-8, 25-14 and Dexter 25-3, 25-16 coming out of pool play 5-1 and the 2nd seed.  The Red team made quick work of Chelsea in the quarterfinal 25-12, 25-11 before defeating a feisty Adrian team in the semifinal 25-20, 25-14.  Fired up for the finals, Bedford came out strong and won the first game 25-18.  A back and forth second game resulted in a hard fought 25-27 loss setting up a winner take all game 3.  Once again it took extra points and the Red team came up short losing 15-17.  A couple highlights from the day were Abby Armstrong serving 22 straight points versus Dexter, Taylor Hawkins with a ground shaking kill highlighting all of the kills, and we got our first blocks of the season.  Although the day didn’t end how we wanted it to, all of the ladies played a part in a successful day.  The Red team looks to continue their success today at home versus Adrian.  Come out and support your lady broncos.
