Spring Break begins on Friday, March 29, 2013.  Classes will resume on Monday, April 8, 2013.

MEDIA CENTER REMINDER
Today is March 28, and it is another due date for books from the Media Center.  Be sure to return or renew all books dated March 28, by the end of the day today.  Stop down to the Media Center if you are not sure when your book is due.

HIGH SCHOOL - TESTING OUT
This is a reminder to 8th graders who would like to test out of a Freshman class next year.  Applications are online and at the high school in the counseling office.  Applications are due May 1.

MATH-A-THON
If you have not turned in your Math-a-thon Pledges please do so as soon as possible.  Remember; to attend the lock-in, your pledges must amount to at least $100.  See your math teacher, or go to room # 230 to turn in  your pledges.   Thank you for all that you have done!

MICHIGAN LEAGUE - MATH STUDENTS
The top student scores from each grade level were combined to make a team score.  With the team scores, our school placed as follows:
6th Grade:
     Placed 16th in the State
     Placed 3rd in the Region

7th Grade:
     Place 25th in the State

8th Grade:
     Placed 17th in the State
     Placed 1st in the Region

Our region consists of Berrien, Calhoun, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Livingston, Monroe and Washtenaw Counties.
 
YOUNG ARTISTS CLUB - TODAY
The Young Artists Club will meet in room # 134 today, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.  This is the very last meeting of the year.

THE GREEN TEAM 
Are you interested in teaming up, cleaning up, and greening up?  Mr. Moore will be sponsoring the Green Team as an after school club that will meet on Thursdays from 2:25 to 3:25 p.m.  The first meeting will be Thursday, April 11.  Meetings will continue through May 30.  Gloves will come in handy if  you plan on joining the club. So be prepared to WORK!

General admission is $8.

SOIREE UPDATE
Congratulations to Madison Spears, 8th grader; Lacey Denker, 7th grader; and Isabelle Joly, 6th grader!  They were chosen as Bedford Junior Idol winners.  They will each get to sing a solo during this weekend's Junior Soiree performances.  The shows are March 22 and 23, this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. General admission is $8.

COMMUNITY ED EVENT - OHIO SKATE NIGHT
Plan to join your friends for an evening of fun at Ohio Skate on Thursday, March 21, from 6:00-8:30 p.m.  Admission is $3.50 at the door.  Skate rental is $1. if needed.  This is a Community Ed sponsored event.

7/8TH GRADE GIRLS' AND BOYS' TRACK - BEGINS TODAY
The first day of track practice is today, March 18.  Come dressed for the weather.  We will be running outside.  Everyone MUST have their physical before practice starts.  If your physical isl not be done, talk to your coach, Coach Bauer and Coach Davis for the girls and Coach Muck for the boys.   All track athletes should be dressed and ready to go at 2:45 p.m.  Practice ends at 4:15 p.m.  Please be sure to have a ride home.  The girls will meet in the cafeteria and the boys will meet on the boys' side of the gym.

Lauren is the State Champion at the Ohio Swimming Junior Olympics in the 100 backstroke.  She was state runner-up in the 200 backstroke and was top 10 in all other events.

DISTRICT CHORAL; FESTIVAL
Congratulations to the Choir for their excellent performance today at District Choral Festival.  The group earned 96 out of a possible 120 points.  This gives them an overall rating of “Excellent”, which qualifies them for State Festival later this Spring.

ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL - MATH-A-THON
Your permission slip, which is the perforated section on your pledge packet, must be turned in by Thursday, March 6.  Please be sure to mark whether you will be using the Online Funbook or the Printed Funbook.  
If you are using the Online Funbook for the math problems, you may begin getting your pledges and doing the problems as soon as your permission slip is turned in.  If you need the Printed Funbook, you may start getting pledges as soon as your permission slip is turn in; but, you will have to wait for the book to be delivered to start dong the math problems.  All donations should be either in a check form, made out to St. Jude Children's Hosp[ital, or they can be made online using a credit card.  Don't forget about the lock-in that we are having for anyone who turns in $100 or more in pledges.  Thank you for all  you are doing.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Brown in room # 230.

7/8th GRADE GIRLS’ RED BASKETBALL
The Bedford 7th grade red basketball team capped off their amazingly successful season by beating Ypsilanti 19-7.  Kate Chuhy led the team last night with 7 points and 5 steals.  Megan Tillman led the way with 6 assists and Abby Monroe led the rebounds with 8.  Great season girls!

Kaylee Witfoth, Kristin Hill, Madisyn King and Jaycie Harris led the Bedford 8th grade red team to a victory over Ypsilanti 21-8.  Congratulations to all; the red team finished the season 11-1.  

7/8TH GRADE GIRLS' AND BOYS' TRACK
The 7th and 8th grade boys and girls track and field begin on Monday, March 18, 2013. The girls will meet in the cafeteria and the boys will meet in the junior high school gym.  Practice ends at 4:15 p.m. You must have a completed physical on file to begin practice.  If this is your first sport for the school year, you need to pick up a physical form in the office or from Coach Bauer in the health room.  Your doctor must fill out the physical  form before the first day of practice.
Girls interested in track should sign up with Coach Bauer in the health room or Coach Davis in Room # 2.
Boys interested in being on the track  team should sign up with Coach Muck in room # 201.  
There are no tryouts for track.

Your permission slip, which is the perforated section on your pledge packet, must be turned in by Thursday, March 6.  Please be sure to mark whether you will be using the Online Funbook or the Printed Funbook.  
If you are using the Online Funbook for the math problems, you may begin getting your pledges and doing the problems as soon as your permission slip is turned in.  If you need the Printed Funbook, you may start getting pledges as soon as your permission slip is turn in; but, you will have to wait for the book to be delivered to start dong the math problems.  All donations should be either in a check form, made out to St. Jude Children's Hosp[ital, or they can be made online using a credit card.  Don't forget about the lock-in that we are having for anyone who turns in $100 or more in pledges.  Thank you for all  you are doing.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Brown in room # 230.

7/8th GRADE GIRLS’ RED BASKETBALL
The 7 and 8th grade girls red basketball teams will take on Ypsilanti at their last home games of the season today.  Games begin at 4:15 p.m.

7/8th GRADE GIRLS' WHITE BASKETBALL

The Bedford 7th grade white basketball team defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln 15-2.  Lynsey Spotts led in scoring with 10 points.  Congratulations to all the girls on a great season. 
  
The Bedford 8th grade white ended the season with an 11-6 win over Ypsilanti Lincoln.  Alexa Libstorff and Alexis Harpel led in scoring.  Brynn Duvall and Erika Wilt led in rebounding.  Ashley Wagenhauser also played well.  Great job to all the girls finishing the season at 9-1.  

7/8TH GRADE GIRLS' AND BOYS' TRACK
The 7th and 8th grade boys and girls track and field begin on Monday, March 18, 2013.  You must have a completed physical on file to begin practice.  If this is your first sport for the school year, you need to pick up a physical form in the office or from Coach Bauer in the health room.  Your doctor must fill out the physical  form before the first day of practice.
Girls interested in track should sign up with Coach Bauer in the health room or Coach Davis in Room # 2.
Boys interested in being on the track  team should sign up with Coach Muck in room # 201.

Join the Soiree!  Become a Soiree Junior Singer!  This is your chance to share the spotlight and share the joy of performing at Bedford High School.  There will be TWO performances just for the Soiree Juniors and the Soiree Singers along with some special guest performances.  Students will also have an opportunity to perform as a soloist through special auditions called "Bedford Junior Idol".  Soiree Junior will perform live  on stage on March 22, and 23, at 8:00 p.m.  Students will receive a Soiree junior T-shirt to keep, two free tickets to the show, one free ticket to see Bedford Idol on March 18, a chance to win a pair of tickets to the upcoming shows at the Huntington Center, Fisher Theatre, etc., and have lots of fun with the members of the Soiree Singers and Mr. Smith.  More information and registration forms are available in the junior high office and on line www.bhstheatrearts.com/bhschoirs

ORCHESTRA/ BAND FESTIVAL RESULTS
Congratulations go out to our seventh and eighth grade orchestra students who particpated in the District Orchestra Festival in Livonia, Michigan this past Saturday.  The orchestra received an overall second division rating (second highest possible).  The group also received a first division rating in sight reading which tests a group's overall musicianship skills.  Way to go BJHS Orchestra Broncos! 

Congratulations to the 7th grade band students.  They received a 3 at the festival.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
The Bedford 7th grade girls' red basketball team lost a thriller to Monroe White 14-13.  Caitlin Steiber led the scoring.  Morgan Gladieux led the rebounding and Kate Chuhy led the team in steals. 

The Bedford 8th grade red team beat Monroe White 22-0.  Kaylee Whitfoth and Jaycie Harris led the scoring with 10 points each.
 
The Bedford 7th grade girls' white team defeated Adrian 24-11.  Lynsey Spotts led in steals and scoring with 17 points. 
  
The Bedford 8th grade white team defeated Adrian 22-4.  Alexa Libstorff led 10 different scorers.  Diana Pudlicki and Cassidy Heer led in rebounding.  Faith Jankowski and Cassidy Killinen also played well. 

TODAY the 7 and 8th grade girls' white basketball teams will play their last home games of the season against Monroe Red.   Come back to school at 4:15 p.m. and support the Broncos!.   

GRAPPLERETTES - MEETING CANCELLED
The grapplerette meeting is cancelled tonight.  The banquet will be held tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in the BJHS Cafeteria.
