MEDIA CENTER REMINDER
Today is April 30th, and it is another due date for books from the Media Center.  Be sure to return or renew all books dated April 30th by the end of the day today.  Stop down to the Media Center if you are not sure when your book is due.

AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS
If students are attending after school events that do not start immediately after classes, they must go home and return to school when the activity begins.  Please, do not leave unsupervised students at school.

CELL PHONES
Cell phones should be turned off once a student enters the building in the morning.  

RELAY FOR LIFE - BRONCO BASH
The Junior High Broncos' Relay For Life Team will be holding  The Bronco Bash this Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Junior High.  Come for music and games with all proceeds benefiting the Bedford Relay For Life. Pizza and concessions will be available for purchase that evening. Wristbands will be sold this week during lunch hours for $5.00 Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Also our relay for life team will be selling suckers during all of the lunches on Friday.

It is almost time for your 2013 yearbook!  Be sure to check the updated yearbook list located in the  cafeteria or in the office.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY - OFFICERS' MEETING - TOMORROW
The NJHS Officers will have a meeting tomorrow, May 1, during 4th hour in the media center to work on the NJHS induction ceremony for new members.

SHAKESPEARE PRACTICE - TOMORROW AND THURSDAY
Practice will be held on Wednesday for Shakespeare in the Courtyard from 2:25 – 3:30 in room # 130. 

Also,  there will be a  special practice on Thursday, May 2, 2013, from 2:30-4:00 with the Orchestra and Dr. Robinson’s seventh hour drama classes and  the after school Shakespeare in the Courtyard Club. 

THE GREEN TEAM MEETS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

HIGH SCHOOL - TESTING OUT - DATE CHANGED
This is a reminder to 8th graders who would like to test out of a Freshman class next year.  Applications are online and at the high school in the counseling office.  Applications may be turned in May 1 through June 1.

BEDFORD TRAVEL SOCCER TEAM
The Bedford Travel Soccer Team attended Bowling Green Spring Challenge this past weekend. They took second place!

8TH GRADE SOFTBALL RESULTS
The Bedford 8th grade team swept Monroe Airport in a double-header Monday. In the 1st game, Kristin Hill pitched a 2-hitter and Ericka Wilt had a key sacrifice fly to lead us to a 3-2 victory. Taylor Haberland had a 2-run double and Megan Cook had a key hit in a 7-run 2nd inning to lead Bedford to a 7-5 win in the 2nd game.

8TH GRADE SOFTBALL 
Good luck to the 8th grade softball team at their home double-header beginning at 4:00 p.m. today.  They will take on St. Charles.

Last night the Lady Broncos had a very successful dual meet at home against Ypsilanti.  Final team scores for the evening were:  Ypsilanti     28           Bedford    121

The boys track team defeated Ypsi West last night 98.5 – 38.5.  Leading the way was Michael Greeley in the 3200 M run with a winning time of 11:58.  Michael also won the long jump.  Other winners were Kevin Lingle in the 1600, Charles Hilsenbeck in the 70 M dash, Galvin Semler in the 200 M dash and high jump, Brady Nowak in the pole vault.  4 x 800 relay team of Dominic Adduci, Darric Garcia, Brendan Burns, and Michael Greeley.  The 4 x 200 relay team of Carson Barr, Alex Pisanti, Tyler Rechsteiner, and Dylan Kreamer.  The 4 x100 team of Joseph Whitaker, Galvin Semler, Brady Nowak, and Andrew Farren.  Andrew Farren also won the 200 M hurdles and broke the school record for the 55 M hurdles with a time of 8.5 seconds

7TH  GRADE SOFTBALL RESULTS
The 7th grade softball team lost two games to Airport last night at home.  Andi Martin had a nice night on the mound and Jordan Costlow threw out 2 runners stealing third.  Jordan Costlow and Claire Asmus each hit a triple and had multiple hits.

MOTHER/DAUGHTER SPRING FLING DANCE
Welcome spring and celebrate your mom at the Mother and Daughter Spring Fling Dance on Friday, May 10, from 7-9 p.m.  This will be a lot of fun for you, your friends, and your moms!  There will be tasty treats, beautiful decorations, and a DJ playing your favorite songs.  Fliers with more information are available in the office.  Get to the Community Ed office to get your tickets!  They are open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. or go to the Adult Ed office on Tuesday night from 5:00-6:30 p.m. What a great way to celebrate Mother's Day.

8TH GRADE SOFTBALL RESULTS

The Bedford 8th grade girls split a double header with St. Mary's from Monroe. St. Mary's won the 1st game 4-1. Kristin Hill pitched and had 2 hits, scoring the only run. Ashley Manore and Lyndsay Wagner contributed with one hit each. Bedford won the 2nd game 9-4, playing their best game as a team this season. Samantha Synowka had a 3-run double and a run scoring single as well as pitching the team to victory. Meegan Smith and Claire Morgan each had 2 hits and Brynn Duvall made a diving catch in center field to end the game.


GIRLS' AND BOYS' TRACK 
The track teams are at home today.  They host Ypsilanti at their meet beginning at 4:15 p.m.

7 AND 8TH GRADE SOFTBALL
The 7th and 8th grade softball teams will host Airport Wager at their double headers today beginning at
4:00 p.m.

GIRLS' AND BOYS' TRACK 
The BJHS boys' track team finished in 6th place at the Panther relays last night with 41 points, missing out on 4th place by only 4 points.  The 4 x 800 relay team of John Kraine, Brendan Burns, Michael Greeley, and Dominic Adduci came in first place with a time of 9:58.  The Distance Medley Team of Brendan Burns, Darric Garcia, Michael Greeley, and Dominic Adduci won with a time of 9:58.  The distance medley team of Brendan  Burns, Darric Garcia, Michael Greeley, and Dominic Adduci won with a time of 9:56.  Galvin Semler set a personal best in the high jump clearing 5'3".   Great job by everyone who participated.

Last night the BJHS girls' track team traveled to Whitmer High School to compete in the annual Panther Relays. The Lady Broncos had a fun night of competition against tough Ohio teams.  Final team scores for the evening were:  Anthony Wayne 85, Washington Maize 81, Eisenhower 58, Bedford 45, Eastwood 41, Perrysburg 33, Washington Blue 16, and Arbor Hills 11.

7 AND 8TH GRADE SOFTBALL
The 7 grade softball team lost to  Jefferson in extra innings in game one last night, then, shut them out 10-0 in game two.  Big hits, including a 3-run homer by Angel Simon to tie the score in game one and a grand slam by Claire Asmus in game two.  Jordan Costlow pitched the first game holding them tight the first 5 innings.  Claire also pitched game 2 shut out.  Good team defense throughout both games.  Sophia Maddaluno and Kaitlyn Scurlock both had nice defensive plays in the infield and outfield.  Good game Broncos!

The Bedford 8th grade softball team beat Monroe Jefferson in 2 games yesterday 2-0 and 17-1. In the 1st game Claire Morgan hit a run-scoring double and Kristin Hill had 2 hits while pitching  a shutout for the victory. The 2nd game was sparked by the team's 1st home run of the season by Laura Shake. Macy Maraugha had a run-scoring double as pitcher Sam Synowka held Jefferson to 2 hits in the win.

The 8th grade softball team will travel again today to play their make-up double header at St. Mary's 
C C.  Games begin at 4:00 p.m.  There is NOT an early release today.  Go Broncos!!!

The girls' and boys' track meet with Monroe scheduled today has been cancelled due to the weather.

GIRLS' TRACK RESULTS - LAST MONDAY
On Monday, the Lady Broncos lost a very close meet to the Dexter Dreadnaughts.  Final team scores were Dexter 70, Bedford 67.  Taking first place for the Lady Broncos were:
Lauren Sullivan in the high jump
Saige Phillips in shot put and the 200 meter dash,
Ashley Wagenhauser in long jump and the 400 meter dash
The 800 meter relay team of Elise Kolar, Emily Grim, Bailey Mehki and Saige Phillips

7TH GRADE SOFTBALL
The 7th grade softball team played their first game last night.  The team lost game number one after a slow start.  Bedford started strong in game two and had two base runners in scoring position when rain ended the game during the first inning.  Madison Zabawa and Courtney Jagielski both had nice hits late in game 1.  Jordan Costlow and Claire Asmus did some amazing pitching.

8TH GRADE SOFTBALL
Monroe beat Bedford in a double header, 5-0 and 6-5.  Monroe's pitcher threw a dominating no-hitter in the first game.  Kristen Hill did not allow a run after the first inning.  We had to overcome a few errors in the first inning and let in their 5 runs.  Taylor Haberland played some stellar defense at shortstop in the game.  In the second game we came back from a 6-0 deficit but still fell a run short.  Brynn Duvall led the way with a 2-run double.  Kristen Hill had 2 hits in the game.

BOYS' TRACK RESULTS

The junior high boys' track team defeated Dexter yesterday, UNOFFICIALLY, 87 – 50.  Dominic Adduci was first in the 3200 M run. Andrew Farren won the 55 and 200 Hurdles. Michael Greeley took first in the 1600 M run. Brady Nowak was first in the 100 M dash.  Galvin Semeler was first in High Jump and 200 M dash.  Joseph Whitaker took first in the shot put.  Great job by both the boys and girls team in their first track meet of the season.

MATH-A-THON SUCCESS!
Congratulations and thank you to all those who made this year's Math-a-thon a success.  We ended up raising $1, 296.48 to help St. Jude Hospital and those with cancer.

SOFTBALL

The Bedford 8th girls’ softball team won their 1st and 2nd games with a double header win over Dundee 3-2 and 11-1. In the 1st game, Claire Morgan had a key hit to start the go-ahead 2-run rally; and Kristen Hill held Dundee hitless after the 1st inning pitching us to a close victory. In Game 2, Laura Shake and Brynn Duvall each hit a long double to lead the hitting attack. The pitching combination of Laura Shake and Sam Synowka held Dundee to just one run.    


COMMUNITY EDUCATION - OHIO SKATE NIGHT - TOMORROW
Plan to join your friend for an evening of fun at Ohio Skate on Thursday, April 18, from 6:00-8:30 p.m.  Admission is $3.50 at the door.  Skate rental is $1 if needed.  this is a Community Education sponsored event.

3 ON 3 BASKETBALL
Is anyone interested in playing basketball in a 3 on 3 tournament?  This opportunity is for all students!  Just put a team together and have some fun with your friends.  Registration forms can be picked up in the office.  The cost is $11.25 per student or $45 per team.  Hope to see  you on the court April 20, at Bedford High School.

MATH-A-THON SUCCESS!
Congratulations and thank you to all those who made this year's Math-a-thon a success.  We ended up raising $1, 296.48 to help St. Jude Hospital and those with cancer.


10TH ANNUAL DAY FOR STRINGS - TODAY
The 10th Annual Day for Strings will take place today.  Orchestra students will leave the building after sixth hour (missing 7th hour) to attend sessions with professional musicians at the high school. The day will conclude with a concert at 7:00 p.m. in the senior high school gym featuring all of our district orchestras.  The concert is free and open to the public.


STUDENTS INTERACT
Students attending tomorrow's session of Students Interact should remember to collect classwork for tomorrow from their teachers today.  Meet in the cafeteria tomorrow morning.  Do not go to first hour.  Attendance will be taken in the cafeteria.  Be sure to bring your coat with you.
