ROBOTICS
Congratulations to the Bionic Broncos FIRST Robotics team for finishing 3rd in the state last weekend. Congratulations to the Loose Screws for finishing 2nd in the state!  Both robotics teams earned a bid to the Super Regional Competition hosted by Iowa State University in Iowa City, Iowa in April.  We are very proud of the Bedford Junior High teams for being number 2 and number 3 in the state, and for being 2 of the 11 Michigan teams that advanced to the super regional!  Having 2 of the top 3 teams in the state is quite an accomplishment for our school.  Congratulations teams!

Attention all girls interested in basketball.  Tryouts start on Monday, January 6th!

AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS
Students should ride the bus home after school.  If they wish to attend or watch an after school event, parents should bring them back to school.  Students are NOT allowed to wander the hallways during events.  

AFTER SCHOOL CODING --  GRADES 6, 7, 8
Do you want to have some fun after school?  On Tuesdays, attend the After School  Coding Club in lab 34 with Mrs. Adkins from 2:30-3:30 p.m..  Build some awesome apps and games with friends. Be sure to have a ride home.  

YEARBOOKS ON SALE TODAY
Yearbooks are on sale now.  The cost is $45.  You can save $3 by donating a new or gently used toy. Yearbooks are sold during all lunch hours. Make checks payable to BJHS. Flyers were given to each student, and additional flyers are also available in the office.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORMS
If you did not turn in your Emergency Medical Form, please turn it in.  (Forms are green, yellow, or salmon;.and they were mailed home in the summer mailing.)  Remember to update all contact numbers and sign the back.  To change a student's address, you must present a Michigan Driver's License with the current address, mortgage or lease paper, and a utility bill.

BE PROMPT!  DON'T MISS YOUR BUS
After school, when going out to your bus, be prompt!  The bus drivers will not allow students on the bus after 2:33 p.m.  

SAVE YOUR POP TABS!
Here is your chance to take part in a community service project!  Bring in your pop tabs, and they will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. They will be recycled for cash to help the children in the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House is a Children's Hospital that helps children in need of medical care and allows the family to stay close to the hospital.  Bring in your pop tabs now to the office or to Mrs. Currie's room

NJHS students should remember to check their email for upcoming events.

BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU WALK!!!
When students walk to school, they should please use the sidewalk next to the high school by the grass and not the sidewalk island next to the bus depot.  We want to make sure everyone is safe.  With the dark mornings now, it is unsafe to walk on the through the depot.

8TH HOUR
Eighth hour is open to all students at BJHS. GREAT JOB CHOIR STUDENTS
The choir students celebrated the holiday last night with their holiday performance in the senior high school auditorium.  Thank you for a very entertaining evening.

BOYS' BASKETBALL
The Bedford 7th grade red team fell to Monroe White 19-16 Wednesday night.  Bobby Slusher, Tyler Welch and Austin Malabanan played well in the defeat.  

The Bedford  8th grade red team closed out the season with a loss to Monroe White 17-16 Wednesday night.  Bryce Krimmel and Abba Risley led the scoring.  Jake Garner and Collin Woolford also played well.

On Wednesday night, the 7th grade white team concluded their season with a win at Adrian 20 - 11.  Garrett Sexton led the scoring with 13 points, Jackie Harris added 11;  Reid Kohler and Nick Walters both scored 6 points and Cody Norton along with Cole Marciniak each had 2 points.  The 7th grade white team finished with a record of 7 - 5.



The 8th Grade White team finished their season Wednesday evening in style by avenging and earlier loss to Adrian last night 21-16.  Nick Lucarelli stole the show as he poured in 12 points and collected 4 steals.  Zack Lewandowski chipped in 13 points and Nolan Ansara pulled down 8 rebounds for the 5 and 7 Bronco's.  

The boys 7th grade white team defeated Lincoln on Monday night 26 -21 as Jackie Harris led all scoring with 15 and made 4 consecutive free throws to secure victory for the Broncos.  Bradley South and Garrett Sexton scored 8 points, Reid Kohler and Cole Marciniak both scored 2 points as the Broncos held the Rail Splitters to only 2 points in the last period.

TheBedford 7th grade red team lost to Saline Gold 20-8 last Monday evening.  Bobby Slusher and Jacob Gladieux led the scoring.  Joey Bachli and Kyle Hennessey also played well.  

The Bedford  8th grade red team lost to Saline Gold 31-16.  Jared Bronikowski, Jake Garner and Jared Fink led the scoring.  Abba Risley, Vince Adduci and Maison Hullibarger also played well.

All current 6th and 7th grade boys who plan on playing football for Bedford Junior High School during the 2014 fall season should plan to attend the short, 5th hour assembly meeting in the gym today.

ROBOTICS - CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to all of the BJHS robotics team members for their outstanding performance this weekend.   Congratulations to team members from the TURNING GEARS team for winning the PTC Design Trophy, to the Bionic Broncos for winning the Connect Trophy, the Basement Dwellers for winning the Think trophy and the Loose Screws for winning the Judges Trophy.  

Also, congratulations to the Bionic Broncos for being the first ranked team following qualification rounds for the second year.   This team also won the 2nd place INSPIRE Trophy.  

The Loose Screws were the 3rd ranked team, and ended up winning the tournament.   

The Loose Screws AND the Bionic Broncos will be representing BJHS at states on Saturday!   26 teams from across the state were in attendance despite the snowstorm on Saturday, and BJHS had 2 of the 5 teams that advanced to states!  Congratulations to you all!

STUDENTS INTERACT
Students who were invited to this week's session of Students Interact should remember to turn in their signed permission slip by the end of the day today.

BOYS' BASKETBALL
Good luck to the 7th ad 8th grade white basketball teams.  They host Lincoln today at 4:15 p.m. in the BJHS Gym.  Come back to school and support your Broncos!

CHARITY CLUB AND BIBLE STUDY CLUB COLLECTION
The Charity Club and Bible Study Club are teaming up to collect socks, gloves, and mittens. Let's all work together and bring in some socks, gloves, or mittens and hang them on the tree in the cafeteria.  What a great idea!

MEDIA CENTER REMINDER

ROBOTICS
Good luck to all BJHS robotics participants who will be competing in the FTC tournament tomorrow! There will be 26 robotics teams here from across Michigan trying to advance to states.  The tournament will be held in our gym, and it is free and open to the public.  Stop by between 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM to cheer on our BJHS robotics teams.  Go Broncos!!!

GRAPPLERETTES
Any 7th or 8th grade student interested in signing up for grapplerettes should please pick up a packet in the office before the end of the day, today, December 13.  Also, plan to attend the meeting on Wednesday, December 18, from 2:45 to 4:00 p.m.  Please meet in the hallway outside of the cafeteria.

FOOTBALL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 6TH AND 7TH GRADE BOYS
All current 6th and 7th grade boys who plan on playing football for Bedford Junior High School during the 2014 fall season should plan to attend the short, 5th hour assembly meting in the gym on Friday, December 20.

AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS
Students should ride the bus home after school.  If they wish to attend or watch an after school event, parents should bring them back to school.  Students are NOT allowed to wander the hallways during events.  

GIRLS' BASKETBALL
Attention ALL girls interested in girls basketball.  There will be an open gyms to practice basketball next Sunday, December 15th.  Meet in the BJHS gym and practice from 4:30PM - 6:00PM.  This is for any girl in 7th or 8th grades.  Tryouts are less than a month away.  Don't wait to work on your game!

PENNY HOCKEY BOARDS ON SALE
Penny hockey boards are now on sale during all lunch hours at the concession stand.  They are only $2.00 and were made by the 8th grade technology education students.  They make an inexpensive Christmas gift. A limited number are available; so, buy  your penny hockey board soon! 
We still have penny hockey boards for sale for $2.00; but we also have refurbished boards that are discounted for only $1.50.  Sales end next week on Wednesday.

SANTA'S WORKSHOP
Come one and all to Room #5 for a wonderful shopping experience.  Come before school starts, during your homeroom, or after school.  Special shopping hours are available by appointment!  help Mrs. Tilley's class raise money for a worthy cause!  All items are priced very reasonably. 

CHARITY CLUB AND BIBLE STUDY CLUB COLLECTION
The Charity Club and Bible Study Club are teaming up to collect socks, gloves, and mittens. Let's all work together and bring in some socks, gloves, or mittens and hang them on the tree in the cafeteria.  What a great idea!

Do you want to have some fun after school?  On Tuesdays, attend the After School  Coding Club in lab 34 with Mrs. Adkins from 2:30-3:30 p.m..  Build some awesome apps and games with friends. Be sure to have a ride home.

BOYS' BASKETBALL
The Bedford 7th grade red team played their best game of the year defeating Dexter Gold 23-9.  Bobby Slusher led with 9 points, and Joey Ashli had his season high in points with 8.

The Bedford  8th grade red team battled and fought hard but could not close out the game losing to Dexter Gold 22-20.  Jake Garner, Bryce Krimmel and Evan Roach led the scoring.  

The white teams will next play Lincoln on Monday at 4:15.

The 7th grade boys white team defeated Chelsea last night 19 - 13.  Garrett Sexton led the scoring with 10 points followed by Jackie Harris with 9.  Bradley South scored 4 points, Cole Marciniak had 3 points, Tyler German scored 2 points, and Nick Walters one point and some key rebounds to secure the victory for the Broncos.

The Bedford 8th Grade White basketball team ran their record to 4 and 6 last night defeating Chelsea 35-23.  T.J Lindermen, Michael Greeley and Nick Lucurelli led the scoring.  Zack Lewandowski had 9 rebounds and Evan Barr played a good floor game with 2 steal, 2 assists and 0 turnovers.

WINTER CONCERT
Congratulations to all of our orchestra students on a great performance last evening from the student solos and ensembles to Jingle Bells to the Christmas Symphony.  Your performance certainly helps to get us in the spirit of the holidays!

THEATER OF THE ABSURD
Thank you Dr. Robinson and your 7th hour puppeteers for your performance of Theater of the Absurd at the Bedford Library  last Monday evening.
