WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2016

STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to Kenedie E. for being our Student of the Week.  Kenedie was recommended by Mr. Matlow.  Kenedie was recommended because of her hard work, positive attitude, very helpful with group work, and is kind others.


FOOD DRIVE
The BJHS Food drive began last Tuesday, November 22nd, and ends Friday, December 9th.
First hour teachers will collect for 7th and 8th grade
6th grade teachers will collect during homeroom.

Again the class that collects the most will receive breakfast -made by Mr. Lopinski.  

Penny Hockey Sales Announcement:
Do you need to buy an inexpensive Christmas gift for someone?  Why not buy them a penny hockey board for only $2.00.  These sturdy games were made by our very ownh8th grade technology education students.  They will be sold at the concession stand during all lunch hours starting Thursday, December 1st.  Buy one for a friend or for yourself!  Get them while they last.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
NJHS students should please check Edmodo for volunteer opportunities.  There are community events that need assistance.

STUDENTS INTERACT - TODAY
Students attending today's session of Students Interact should remember to bring their coat to the cafeteria first thing this morning.  First hour attendance will be taken in the cafeteria.

FRENCH CLUB - STARTS THIS WEEK

Do you love language?
Do you love learning?
Do you love food?

Then come to FRENCH CLUB!  Pracice French culture, and learn how to speak French through games, movies, and activities.  French Club takes place right after school from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Ms. DePorre's Classroom # 49, every other Thursday beginning December 1.  Make sure you have a ride home.

ART CLUB - CANCELLED THIS WEEK
There will be no art club today.  The next art club will meet on December 7, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

SPIRIT WEAR SHOP - LAST WEEK TO ORDER

LACROSSE
Any 7th or 8th grade boys interested in playing winter indoor lacrosse this year there will be an informational meeting next week with details.  If you just want to know more about lacrosse you are  also encouraged to come.  Date and time will be announced on Friday.

Immunization records for your student(s) need to be turned into the school nurse this week.

YEARBOOKS
Yearbooks are on sale for $40 until February 1 after that they will be $45.  You can purchase them on line at yearbookforever.com or by sending a cash, check or money order to Bedford Junior High School (memo Yearbook) to Mr. Masters room 130

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Box Top collections !! This year we will be collecting box tops and having a friendly competition between home rooms. This is an easy way to fund raise for the extra things our classrooms my need throughout the year. Just ask your students and parents to clip and save. Deposit them in the collection boxes with your homeroom name on them (or place in Nimigean's mailbox in the high school or Muck's mailbox in the junior high).

We will collect for 3 months for each giveaway.
Winners will be awarded the first of December, March and June (top collector in each building). Make sure you get them turned in for a homeroom treat!

HANDBOOK REMINDER
Students who are leaving school early for an appointment should remember to come to the office first thing in the morning before school starts to receive an exit pass. They should not give their notes to their teachers. Do not wait until lunch to receive your exit pass.

DROP OFF ITEMS
Students, if your parents drop off items for you during the day, they will be held at the front door with our door monitor. Please listen to announcements during the class changes for your name..At that time, you may pick up your items from the door monitor.

SAFETY REMINDER
When getting off of the bus in the morning, be sure to stay on the sidewalk to get to the junior high. Do not walk on the cement island.

CHROMEBOOKS
Students please remember to limit what you take to each class. Chromebooks can not be stacked on several books. Carrying several books increases the chance for your chromebook to slip and break.

HEALTH ROOM VISITS
You must report to your next hour teacher before coming to the health room unless it is an emergency. That way your teacher knows where you are.

7th Grade students check your email for an invitation from Mrs Connolly about Students Interact starting November 30. 

Signed permission slips are due back to Mrs. Connolly by Tuesday morning. If   you have any questions regarding Students Interact, please see Mrs. Connolly in the counseling office. 

STUDENTS: PLEASE be sure to collect your assignments for Wednesday from your teachers.

BASKETBALL
Bedford red 7th grade fell to Dexter Maroon 19-15 in a hard fought game.  Preston Manard led the scoring with 9 points on 3 3-pointers.  Kamren Smith and Brendan Hammer also played well scoring 7 and 4 points respectively.  

Bedford 8th grade red lost to Dexter Maroon 20-13.  Brayden Brewer and Brian Heath played well.  

The boys 7th grade white team defeated Adrian last night 29 - 27 in a close game that the Broncos came out victorious after a last second shot was missed by the Maples.
Micah Scheffer led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points.
Hayden Fekete had a season high 10 points and many rebounds.
Daniel Stieber added 9 points to the total.
Ethan Brickner scored 7 points, Ethan Gruhler had 5 points.
Adan Reed, Sam Travis, and Grant Yeager all chipped in with 2 points each.


The white teams will next play Lincoln at home tomorrow with the 7th grade game beginning at 4:15.
