SAY SOMETHING WEEK
During the week of February 25 - March 1, 2019 thousands of schools and youth organizations from across the United States will participate in Say Something Week. Say Something Week raises awareness and educates students and the community on ways to take action to prevent violence.  Say Something Week reinforces the power young people have to prevent tragedies and save lives when they Say Something to a trusted adult. I have signed us up for "Say Something Week" through the Sandy Hook Project and NJHS students will be helping to facilitate the activities for the week. There will be a different theme each day starting on Monday with...


Friday - “Green Day” Wear green to show your support of the Sandy Hook Promises mission to prevent violence.  During the lunch hours for $1 take pictures with our “Say Something” frame to show your dedication to reporting tips on criminal activities or potential harm directed at students, school employees, or schools.

ALL MULES MATTER
All Mules Matter students will be selling Autism Awareness shirts during lunches this week, shirts will be $8, Money is required up front to place you order and shirts will arrive at the end of March.

MATH LEAGUE COMPETITIVE TEST
Congratulation 2018/2019 6th grade Math League Competitive Test Participants. All students who participated are commended: they were very challenging tests.  The top scores belong to:

     1st place:  Isaiah Wingate
     2nd place (tie):   Nyah Mullins & Aubrey Vanderhoof
     3rd place (tie):   Margaret Robinson & Brynn Sadowski

TALENT SHOW
The Talent Show is March 27, 2019!  Auditions are March 5th. Please see Mr. Lopinski in room # 30 to sign up.

REMINDER 
Just a reminder to students - cell phones are not to be used during the day to text or call their parent to come pick them up when they are not feeling well.  (Please do not email either). Students are to come to the health room.  You can use the student phone located in the office.  Too many parents are showing up for their sick student and the health room/office is not aware.  Please see your Student Handbook regarding use of Cell Phones.

Just a reminder to parents and students about the school dress code. Jeans with rips or holes in them is not allowed. Also, hoods of any kind are not to be worn inside the building.

DESIGN AN APP CLUB
Do you want to be the next Mark Zuckerburg?  Are you interested in creating an APP that could be uploaded to the APP Store?  The Design an App Club will begin today!  Design an App Club is meeting from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Ms. May's room, # 50. The club will meet every Tuesday.  Grab a friend and come to the APP Club to learn about APP development and create your own APP! 

SPORTS
Bedford White 8th Grade could not handle the pressure put on by Ypsilanti Lincoln falling to the Railsplitters 32-17.

Bedford Red Girls basketball lost their game at Saline yesterday.  Playing very well were: Ryann Miller, Jordyn Brabbs, Ava Burkey and Samantha Timerding.

STUDENT OF WEEK
Student of the week for the week of 2/25 is Allison S. She was nominated by Mrs. Brown and here's what she had to say... Allison is a very dedicated young woman, who has a heart of compassion for others. Allison is always ready to participate in our class discussions, and is a very conscientious worker. What makes Allison stand out though, is her readiness to help others. Allison is always ready to help others, in academics as well as in life. Thank you Allison, for excelling in academics and in loving others well.

Wednesday “Team Up” against violence by wearing your favorite sports team shirt or jersey.

Thursday - “United In Action Day”  Wear your Hixon strong shirt or a Bedford shirt to show that we are all united in the fight to prevent violence.

The rescheduled Shrek Jr. parent mandatory meeting is Tuesday, February 26th in Mrs. Matlow's classroom.

SPORTS
Bedford 7th grade white fought hard against a strong Chelsea team losing 20-13. Victoria G. led in scoring with 9. Clara S. and Samarra R. played well defensively. .

Bedford white 8th grade avenged two earlier losses and played their best game of the season in taking down Chelsea 16-14.  Paige B. and McKenna D. led in scoring. Ava G. played great defense.

Bedford Red girls 7th grade basketball lost last night. Hannah C., Madi B., and Ryann M. all had good games.

Monday we will celebrate the life and legacy of Chris Hixon a victim from the Parkland Florida tragedy and the brother of our BJHS PE teacher Mrs.Hixon with a birthday theme in honor of his 51st birthday.  During lunch make a donation to The Chris Hixon Scholarship fund and hang a candle in his honor. During the day you may wear a party hat to celebrate his life. This evening you could have a pizza party by ordering from Pizza Primo between 4-8pm to support NJHS.  If you take any pictures with your party hats or order pizza tonight for a pizza party take a picture and post it to social media using the hashtag #ChrisHixon51 to share with his family how you are celebrating his life and legacy.

SPORTS
Bedford Red 7th grade girls basketball team played their best game of the year against a scrappy Ypsilanti squad. Playing well for the Lady Broncos were: Kami C., Jordyn B., and Ryann M. in a nail biting 17-16 loss. 

Bedford red 8th grade defeated Ypsilanti community schools 20-18. Maddie A. and Paige A. played well in the victory.

Bedford 7th grade white played their best defensive game but  lost to a tough Chelsea team 16-7.  Alivia B. led in scoring, and Victoria G. led in rebounding. Emma S. also played well for the Broncos. 

Bedford white 8th grade lost a hard fought battle to Chelsea 25-17.  Ava G. and McKenna D. led the scoring.  Anika H. and Trinity L. also played well.
