TALENT SHOW TRYOUTS - LAST CHANCE - NEXT WEEK 
The event of the season is coming up in a few weeks, and this is your chance to be a part of it!  Show off your talent, any kind of talent, at the BJHS Talent Show.  Tryouts will take place on Monday and Tuesday, next week, right after school in room # 130 from 2:30-3:30 p.m.   

ATTENTION ALL MATH STUDENTS!
If  your math grade is an A or B, you may participate in the Michigan League Competitive Math Contest.
If you are interested in taking the Michigan League Math Contest, see your math teacher or Mrs. Brown in room # 230 by today, January 31, and pick up practice tests.   

YEARBOOKS SALES  END FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14
Yearbooks are on sale now.  The cost is $45.  Yearbooks are sold during all lunch hours. Make checks payable to BJHS. Flyers were given to each student, and additional flyers are also available in the office.

SPELLING BEE - RESCHEDULED
The spelling bees have been rescheduled to Monday, February 3, 2014.  
The 8th Grade Spelling Bee will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the BJHS Media Center

Do you want to have some fun after school?  On Tuesdays, attend the After School  Coding Club in lab 34 with Mrs. Adkins from 2:30-3:30 p.m..  Build some awesome apps and games with friends. Be sure to have a ride home.  

SOIREE JUNIOR SINGERS
This is your chance to share the spotlight!  Become a junior soiree member!   The program will include training in voice projection, dance, poise, and what it takes to be a Soiree Singer!  All students are invited, even if you never danced or performed in a choir.  Registration forms and more information are available in the office.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL
The Bedford 7th grade red basketball team lost a tough game to Dexter Gold last night 14-11.  Emily Babb and Madeline Matthews led the way for the Lady Broncos.

The Bedford 8th grade red team improved to 3-0 with a victory over Dexter Gold 20-15.  The girls played with tremendous effort and heart on both ends of the floor.

WRESTLING
Good luck wrestlers at the Bedford Team Invitational tomorrow morning!

GRADES 6/7/8 VOLLEYBALL CLINIC - THIS SUNDAY - FEBRUARY 2
Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade girl interested in volleyball should not miss this opportunity.  There will be a volleyball clinic offered by Ms. Bankowski and  her daughter, Lindi, former Mississippi State Coach, this Sunday in the junior high gym.  The 6th and 7th grade clinic will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon and the 8th grade clinic will be held from 4-6:00 p.m.  The cost is $15  payable at the clinic.  There are flyers available in the junior high school office. 

SOFTBALL - OPEN GYM - SUNDAY
Attention 7th and 8th grade girls interested in playing softball this spring; come to open gym and get ready for tryouts and the season ahead.  Open gym time will be held on Sundays from noon until 2:00 p.m. starting January 26, and running through March 9.  This is a great  opportunity to start throwing, hitting, and   field before tryouts.  Check out www.bedfordsports.com for more details and contact information.

LACROSSE
Any student, boy or girl, in 7th or 8th grade interested in playing Lacrosse this season should come with their parents to the informational meeting on Feb 18th at 7:00 PM.  Also, conditioning has started and you’re not too late to join us.  Please talk to any player for details.

3B BASEBALL SIGN-UPS
The 3B baseball sign-ups are coming up!  February 5th, and 6th, from 6-8 p.m. at the high school in the main lobby.  You can also check out the website 3bbaseball.org for our up-to-date features that include online sign-ups and bill payment.

AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS
Students should ride the bus home after school.  If they wish to attend or watch an after school event, parents should bring them back to school.  Students are NOT allowed to wander the hallways during events.  If you do come back to school, or stay after school to participate in a club, please be sure to stay in the area you belong in.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORMS
If you did not turn in your Emergency Medical Form, please turn it in.  (Forms are green, yellow, or salmon;.and they were mailed home in the summer mailing.)  Remember to update all contact numbers and sign the back.  To change a student's address, you must present a Michigan Driver's License with the current address, mortgage or lease paper, and a utility bill.

BE PROMPT!  DON'T MISS YOUR BUS
After school, when going out to your bus, be prompt!  The bus drivers will not allow students on the bus after 2:33 p.m.  

SAVE YOUR POP TABS!
Here is your chance to take part in a community service project!  Bring in your pop tabs, and they will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. They will be recycled for cash to help the children in the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House is a Children's Hospital that helps children in need of medical care and allows the family to stay close to the hospital.  Bring in your pop tabs now to the office or to Mrs. Currie's room

BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU WALK!!!
When students walk to school, they should please use the sidewalk next to the high school by the grass and not the sidewalk island next to the bus depot.  We want to make sure everyone is safe.  With the dark mornings, it is unsafe to walk through the depot.

8TH HOUR
Eighth hour is open to all students at BJHS. RESULTS from last week - January 23 
The Bedford 7th grade red team  lost to Tecumseh 19-6.  Playing well for the girls was Selena Sandoval, Lizzie Orwig and Paige Balcerzak.  

The Bedford 8th grade red team improved to 2-0 with a 21-9 victory over Tecumseh.  Ali Cousino led a stellar defensive effort with 10 steals.  Mackenzie Helpman and Madelyn Birmingham also played well.  

The Bedford 7th grade white team lost to Saline blue 23-5.  

The Bedford 8th grade white team lost to Saline blue 17-6.

When students walk to school, they should please use the sidewalk next to the high school by the grass and not the sidewalk island next to the bus depot.  We want to make sure everyone is safe.  With the dark mornings, it is unsafe to walk through the depot.

Eighth hour is open to all students at BJHS. BOYS BASKETBALL

GIRLS BASKETBALL
The 7 and 8th grade red basketball teams will travel to play Tecumseh today.

The 7 and 8th grade white teams will host Saline Blue today in the BJHS gym.  Come back to school and support them.

WRESTLING
The Bronco Wrestlers started off the SEC League competition with a dominating win over Adrian 74-13. They won 25 of the 29 matches wrestled, 21 by fall.  Congratulations to the wrestlers, and good luck on Saturday at Tecumseh.

SOIREE JUNIOR SINGERS
This is your chance to share the spotlight!  Become a junior soiree member!   The program will include training in voice projection, dance, poise, and what it takes to be a Soiree Singer!  All students are invited, even if you never danced or performed in a choir.  Registration forms and more information are available in the office.


ANNUAL DADDY/DAUGHTER VALENTINE DANCE
Girls;  make a date with your dad to attend the daddy/daughter dance on Friday,  February 8, 2014, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Informational flyers are available in the junior high office or at the Community Education Office.  The cost is $12 per person.

SOFTBALL ANNOUNCEMENT
Attention 7th and 8th grade girls interested in playing softball this spring; come to open gym and get ready for tryouts and the season ahead.  Open gym time will be held on Sundays from noon until 2:00 p.m. starting January 26, and running through March 9.  This is a great  opportunity to start throwing, hitting, and   field before tryouts.  Check out www.bedfordsports.com for more details and contact information.

AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS
Students should ride the bus home after school.  If they wish to attend or watch an after school event, parents should bring them back to school.  Students are NOT allowed to wander the hallways during events.  

YEARBOOKS ON SALE TODAY
Yearbooks are on sale now.  The cost is $45.  Yearbooks are sold during all lunch hours. Make checks payable to BJHS. Flyers were given to each student, and additional flyers are also available in the office.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORMS
If you did not turn in your Emergency Medical Form, please turn it in.  (Forms are green, yellow, or salmon;.and they were mailed home in the summer mailing.)  Remember to update all contact numbers and sign the back.  To change a student's address, you must present a Michigan Driver's License with the current address, mortgage or lease paper, and a utility bill.

BE PROMPT!  DON'T MISS YOUR BUS
After school, when going out to your bus, be prompt!  The bus drivers will not allow students on the bus after 2:33 p.m.  

SAVE YOUR POP TABS!
Here is your chance to take part in a community service project!  Bring in your pop tabs, and they will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. They will be recycled for cash to help the children in the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House is a Children's Hospital that helps children in need of medical care and allows the family to stay close to the hospital.  Bring in your pop tabs now to the office or to Mrs. Currie's room

GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Bedford 7th grade white team defeated Monroe Red 15-8.  Taylor Weirich led in scoring with 13 points.  Becca Crawford led defensively.

The Bedford 8th grade white team opened the season with a great team effort win against Monroe Red 25-1.  Caitlin Stieber and Lynsey Spotts led a balanced scoring attack.  Caelan Warnecke led defensively and Olivia Cook and Claire Asmus played well.  

At home last night,the Bedford 8th grade girls red basketball team defeated Ypsilanti 27-9. Kate Chuhy and Koryn King led the scoring with 12 and 10 points respectively. Joella Griner and Courtney Jagielski led the rebounding with 10 each.

Also, the 7th grade red team won the opener 11-6 against Ypsilanti.  Lizzie Orwig, Mikayla Motylynski, and Caitlin Miller all played well for the Lady Broncos.

Both 7th grade teams are reminded that practice is after school until 12:30.

WRESTLING
Good luck to the 7th and 8th grade wrestlers at their home match with Adrian.  Grappling begins at 
4:15  p.m.
