FOOTBALL
The 7th and 8th grade White teams won their home openers last night starting the season out 1-0.

The7th grade white team dominated the Trojans from the get go and won 34-0.  Jacob Garner started the game with quarterback duties and scored on a 3-yard run on a roll-out and later broke a 60-yard TD up the middle.  Collin Woolford took quarterback responsibilities in the second half and scored 3 touchdowns on his own, and he recovered a kick off; giving the Broncos an extra possession.  Other big plays in the game were Jordan Cooker and Evan Roach coming up with interceptions in the first half, Dylan Fields caught a pass to convert on the 2-point conversion, Zach Cox converted on a 2-point conversion with a strong run up the middle, and Jacob Bushroe made a big play in the 4th quarter by sacking the quarterback.

The 8th grade white game was a back and forth match up that with some late game heroics, fell in the Broncos favor in a 23-14 victory over the Trojans.  The game opened up with the Broncos taking a 2-0 lead as the Trojan running back was tackled in their end zone for a safety and giving the ball to the Broncos.  After turning the ball over to Monroe, the Trojans scored and took a 6-2 lead.  The Broncos responded before halftime with Jared Nanney running the ball in for a touchdown and taking a botched PAT snap in for 2 points giving the Broncos a 10-6 lead at the half.  Bedford added to the lead in the second half on a 40-yard touchdown by Ian Tyburski to give the mules a 17-6 lead.  Monroe responded with a 36-yard touchdown pass and conversion making the game 17-14.  After a fumbled kick-off return by the Broncos, the defense made a great stand in the fourth quarter giving the ball back to the offense; and on the first offensive play, Ian Tyburski broke a 74-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach for Monroe.

Both White teams will be traveling to take on the Lincoln Rail Splitters next Tuesday!

Both Red teams lost to the Adrian Maples last night!

The 7th grade lost by a score of 24-0.  The 7th graders began to show promise int he second half of the game holding the Maples to 1 second -half score.

The 8th grade lost by a score of 30-12.  Standout performances were made by Brady Nowak on a 90-yard kick return for a touchdown, and another kick return for 60-yards, which later resulted in David Jeffers running in for a 4-yard touchdown.  The defense had bone-crunching hits by Alex Pisanti, Chris Augustynak, Jake Curtis, and Matt Siesel.

Next week, the red teams take on Chelsea Gold at home. They are looking for a fantastic bounce back performance and their first win.
