SAY SOMETHING WEEK
During the week of February 25 - March 1, 2019 thousands of schools and youth organizations from across the United States will participate in Say Something Week. Say Something Week raises awareness and educates students and the community on ways to take action to prevent violence.  Say Something Week reinforces the power young people have to prevent tragedies and save lives when they Say Something to a trusted adult. I have signed us up for "Say Something Week" through the Sandy Hook Project and NJHS students will be helping to facilitate the activities for the week. Monday we will celebrate the life and legacy of Chris Hixon a victim from the Parkland
Florida tragedy and the brother of our BJHS PE teacher Mrs.Hixon with a birthday
theme in honor of his 51st birthday.  During lunch make a donation to The Chris Hixon
Scholarship fund and hang a candle in his honor. During the day you may wear a party
hat to celebrate his life. This evening you could have a pizza party by ordering from Pizza
Primo between 4-8pm to support NJHS.  If you take any pictures with your party hats or
order pizza tonight for a pizza party take a picture and post it to social media using the
hashtag #ChrisHixon51 to share with his family how you are celebrating his life and legacy.

Tuesday We will have “Empowerment Day” wear your workout gear to school and show
your strength to prevent violence!


Wednesday “Team Up” against violence by wearing your favorite sports team shirt or jersey.


Thursday - “United In Action Day”  Wear your Hixon strong shirt or a Bedford shirt to show
that we are all united in the fight to prevent violence.


Friday - “Green Day” Wear green to show your support of the Sandy Hook Promises
mission to prevent violence.  During the lunch hours for $1 take pictures with our
“Say Something” frame to show your dedication to reporting tips on criminal activities
or potential harm directed at students, school employees, or schools.

8TH GRADE REMINDER - FRESHMAN COURSE REQUEST CARDS
Freshman course request cards are due to your English teacher by next Monday, February 25. If you need a card or have any questions, please see Ms. O'Neill in the the counseling office.

NJHS MEMBERSHIP MEETING
There will be a NJHS membership meeting tomorrow, February 21st, during 5th hour in the media center. Students, please inform your teachers so you can get any work that you will miss.

DRESS CODE 
Just a reminder to parents and students about the school dress code. Jeans with rips or holes in them is not allowed. Also, hoods of any kind are not to be worn inside the building.

MATH LEAGUE TEST - TODAY
Attention all students who are taking the Math League Test today. You must bring your own calculator to use and several pencils.  You will NOT be able to use your Chromebook calculator.  

The test will be given in the cafeteria during 1st hour for 7th and 8th grade only.  Sixth grade will be taking the test next Tuesday.  An excuse list has been sent to your teachers.  Please go to your class first, and after announcements and attendance proceed to the the cafeteria.  Remember, you must bring a calculator and several pencils with you to the test! 

DESIGN AN APP CLUB
Do you want to be the next Mark Zuckerburg?  Are you interested in creating an APP that could be uploaded to the APP Store?  The Design an App Club will begin today!  Design an App Club is meeting from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Ms. May's room, # 50. The club will meet every Tuesday.  Grab a friend and come to the APP Club to learn about APP development and create your own APP!

The next All Mules Matter is February 25th during 5A homeroom.

SPORTS
Bedford Red 7th grade girls lost a hard fought battle 12-2 against a very good Ypsilanti Lincoln squad. Samantha T. led in rebounding, Aryanna L. led in scoring, and Carissa H. led in steals. Great job girls. 
Bedford red 8th grade defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln Gray 16-10. Elaina s
S. had 8 rebounds and Alexia M. had 4 steals to lead the defense to the win. Bedford 7th grade white lost to Saline Blue 22-6. Madilyn S. and Victoria G. led in scoring. Skylar W. played well defensively.
Bedford white 8th grade lost to Saline 27-11. Ava G. led in scoring.  Paige B. and McKenna D. also played well.
