Today is the 17th day of school. There are 164 days remaining.

SPORTS
The cross country girls team remains undefeated in the conference after winning at the SEC Jamboree last night.  Scoring for our team were Bekah A., who has placed first or second for Bedford at every race this season, Ava R., Sydney D., Katelyn D., Emma B., Zalyn S., and Sam S. On a slow and difficult course, three runners still managed to get personal records for the season: Gretchen H., Izzy L., and Savannah F.  Congratulations, team, on a persevering through a tough race. Go Broncos!

The 7th and 8th grade Red football teams played extremely well yesterday. They played together and ran the offense great. Our defenses played hard and hit even harder. Now, we are on to the next game and preparation starts today. Thank you boys for playing hard and together. 7th grade won against Chelsea 36-22.

START WITH HELLO 2018
September 24th-28th NJHS will be leading our school in participating in "Start With Hello Week". Start With Hello Week is organized by Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit organization led by several family members who lost loved ones at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on December 14th, 2012. Based in Newtown, Connecticut, Sandy Hook Promises mission is to prevent gun violence BEFORE it happens by teaching youth and adults how to recognize the signs, intervene and get help for individuals who may be at-risk of hurting themselves or others. Start with Hello teaches students, grades 2-12, the skills they need to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school. Please join us this week as we work to help ALL students at BJHS feel connected by starting with hello and participating in our activities. Each day of the week starting Monday will be a theme.

Wednesday "Green Out"- wear green to show your support for including others and preventing violence before it takes place!

Thursday "Random Acts of Kindness Day"- do something nice for someone! Be the reason someone smiles today and be kind without being prompted!

Friday "Compliments Day"- compliment someone today! Let someone know how much you appreciate them, how amazing they are, or thank someone for all they do! Tell them or write a note!

During the week in the lunchroom students can take the pledge to include others and help stop violence before it takes place by writing your name on a hand and adding it to our tree.
