SPRING BREAK
Spring break begins on Friday, April 18, 2014.  There is a full day of school on Thursday, April 17.
Students will return to classes on Monday, April 28, 2014.

MEDIA CENTER REMINDER
Yesterday was April 15, so it is another due date for books from the Media Center.  Be sure to return or renew all books dated April 15.  Stop down to the Media Center if\you are not sure when your book is due.

REMINDERS
No cell phones in pants pockets or sweatshirts.  
No cell phone use during lunch.

DRESS CODE REMINDERS
Shorts should be finger-tip length.
There should be NO holes, rips, tears, or frays in pants or other clothing.
Tank tops should be modest.

8TH GRADE STUDENTS
Anyone interested in joining the Bedford High School  Marching Band Color Guard (Flag Corp) should plan on attending a clinic at the Bedford High School Gym on April 20, 2014, from 2:45 to 4:30 p.m.  
Auditions will be held at the Bedford High School on May 6, 2014, from 2:45 to 4:30 p.m.
See Mr. Meggitt in the band room if you have any questions. 

*JAMES P. MCHUGH ACADEMIC BANQUET
The James P. McHugh Academic Excellence Banquet has been rescheduled to May 7, 2014, due to the new Quarter 3 end date.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF THE MONROE COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR
Congratulations to the winners of the Monroe County Science Fair:

Maggie Naco won third place in the Earth Science Category
Aubrie Zeunen won third place in the Life Science Category.
Honorable mention went to Brandon Ullery , Jackson Rogers, and Natalie Harper.

AMERICA'S CULTURE ESSAY PLACEMENT TEST - TODAY
Seventh grade students who signed up for America's Culture next year will be given the America's Culture Essay Placement Test today, April 16, 2014, in the cafeteria during first hour. Students should report to first hour for announcements and attendance, and then they should report to the cafeteria with 2 pencils. 

THE BJHS ANNUAL LITERARY MAGAZINE IS BACK!
The BJHS Literary Magazine is back!  Submit any poems or short stories (appropriate).  The box will be in the junior high school office.  Please, no anonymous submissions allowed.  Thank you for submitting your masterpiece into our publications class Literary Magazine.

AFTER SCHOOL CODING -  GRADES 6, 7, 8 
After School Coding Club meets on Tuesdays in lab 34 with Mrs. Adkins from 2:30-3:30 p.m.  Build some awesome apps and games with friends. Be sure to have a ride home.  

THE GREEN TEAM
Thanks so much to everybody that came out to the "Green Team".  You all did a great job on picking up the litter that was around the building and made an awesome start to the new "Green Team".  If you were unable to attend this week, we will meet again on Tuesday, April 29, and Wednesday April 30, from 2:30 to 3:30 in room # 40.
  
ART CLUB - GRADES 6, 7, 8 - MEETS TOMORROW

CHESS CLUB - GRADES 6, 7, 8 - MEETS TOMORROW
Chess Club meets on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in room #130.   See Dr. Robinson in room # 130 if you have any questions.

JUGGLING CLUB - GRADES 6, 7, 8
There will NOT be a Juggling Club  meeting this week due to spring break.  The next Juggling Club meeting will be held after spring break on Friday, May 2.  This will be the last Juggling Club meeting of the season.  

8th GRADE SOFTBALL
Good luck to our 8th grade softball team.  They host Erie Mason in a double header at Indian Creek beginning at 4:00 p.m. today.  Go Lady Broncos!

BOYS' TRACK RESULTS FROM MONDAY, APRIL 14
The boys jr high track team defeated Tecumseh on Monday 92 - 45. Caleb Gill won the 3200 meter run in 12:22 followed by Darric Garcia with a time of 12:23.
Seth Murphy took second in the low hurdles and won the 200 M hurdles with a time of 33.13
Justin Bennett was 2nd in the 800 M run
Michael Greeley won the 1600 M run in 5:06 and Long jump with a jump of 19 feet
Colin Woolford won the 200 M dash in 27.4 and pole vault clearing 8'6"
Elijah Flood won the high jump (5ft) and 2nd in the 400 M dash
Kyle Hudgin shot put (38 ft)
800 M relay team of Seth Murphy, Dalton Kratt, Kyler Streeter, and Austin Malabanan (1:52)
400 M relay team of Colin Woolford, Jacob Garner, Austin Malabanan, and Elijah Flood ( 51.8)
Other strong performances from Monday:

Austin Hammer 2nd in 200 M hurdles

BEDFORD VOLLEYBALL CAMP - GRADES 6, 7, 8
There will be a Bedford Volleyball Camp this summer for girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.  Please pick up a flyer in the office if you are interested.  Register early to make sure you don't get closed out! 

AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS
Students should ride the bus home after school.  If they wish to attend or watch an after school event, parents should bring them back to school.  Students are NOT allowed to wander the hallways during events.  If you do come back to school, or stay after school to participate in a club, please be sure to stay in the area you belong in.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORMS
If you did not turn in your Emergency Medical Form, please turn it in.  (Forms are green, yellow, or salmon;.and they were mailed home in the summer mailing.)  Remember to update all contact numbers and sign the back.  To change a student's address, you must present a Michigan Driver's License with the current address, mortgage or lease paper, and a utility bill.

BE PROMPT!  DON'T MISS YOUR BUS
After school, when going out to your bus, be prompt!  The bus drivers will not allow students on the bus after 2:33 p.m.  

SAVE YOUR POP TABS! -LAST DAY TO BRING IN POP TABS - THURSDAY, APRIL 17
Here is your chance to take part in a community service project!  Bring in your pop tabs, and they will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. They will be recycled for cash to help the children in the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House is a Children's Hospital that helps children in need of medical care and allows the family to stay close to the hospital.  Bring in your pop tabs now to the office or to Mrs. Currie's room

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
NJHS students should remember to check their email for upcoming events.

BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU WALK!!!
When students walk to school, they should please use the sidewalk next to the high school by the grass and not the sidewalk island next to the bus depot.  We want to make sure everyone is safe.  With the dark mornings, it is unsafe to walk through the depot.

8TH HOUR
Eighth hour is open to all students at BJHS.
