Cross Country
On Monday, May 18, following the junior high track meet (approximately 7:30), there will be a brief meeting in the junior high media center about cross country season and cross country camp. Please make every effort to be there, especially to reserve your spot for camp. The deposit to save your spot is $50 per runner, and that deposit will go towards your total cost for camp. Camp will be July 12-16 this year. Even if you are not going to camp, stop by the meeting for other important dates and information regarding the cross country season.

Please pass this along to anyone you know that is interested in running cross country this season, whether they have been on the team or not.

This year should be a special season, and I look forward to our work this summer and fall.

Coach Earl

Sports Physicals
Plan ahead for next year's sports seasons! Mark your calendars for physicals offered at Bedford High School by Mercy Sports Medicine professionals.
Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 6-8 p.m.
Bedford High School Gym
Cost – $22.00 (Cash only)

While physical forms will be available during this time, to streamline the process we recommend bringing a copy of the MHSAA physical form already filled out with your information. You can find a copy of the form here: http://www.mhsaa.com/…/Docum…/AD%20Forms/physical%202011.pdf

As an added convenience, the Athletic Department will make a copy of the completed form once the physical is done to have on file for next year's sports seasons.
*Any physical obtained AFTER April 15, 2015 will be good for all of the sports seasons during the 2015-2016 school year. Please note: If an athlete obtained a physical prior to April 15th to participate in a 2015 spring sport this year (eg: track), this will NOT apply to a 2015 fall sport (eg: cross country). An additional physical will be needed prior to the fall season sports.

Box Tops for Education
The month of May's Box Top race is on!!  This month if your 4th hour class clips the most you will receive donuts and juice!!  So keep clipping!!  Place your box tops in the collection box or turn into room #201 with your 4th hour teacher's name clearly written on the bag.

This is a great way to raise extra money for the school.  These funds will help support in class projects, field trips and many other fun activities in the building. SO START CLIPPING!

In addition to "box tops" we are also collecting "labels for education"! These can be found on Campbell Soups, Pepperidge Farm, Danimals, etc.

Dress Code
The dress and grooming code is a reference guide for parents/guardians and students. Our Dress for Success Policy is designed to ensure an appropriate and respectful appearance and a safe educational environment. Clothing that is inappropriate for the school environment may not be worn. Accommodations for religious requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis in accordance with appropriate state and federal laws and the requirements and the principles of effective order and discipline in the school.

Clothing is to be worn in a manner for which it is intended, and personal appearance is not to serve as a distraction to teaching or learning. Reasonable standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene must be maintained. High standards of personal modesty are consistently required.

Examples of clothing considered inappropriate for school include, but are not limited to the following:
• low-cut, revealing, or bare-midriff tank tops, sundresses, or shirts; • shirts with oversized armholes that reveal a student's chest or side;
• clothes exhibiting frays, tears, or holes;
• tops such as halter tops (bare shoulders or back, ties at the back of the neck or waist), spaghetti-strapped tops, bare shouldered tops, belly tops (midriff may not be revealed) and tube tops. Tank tops having shoulder straps two or more inches wide are permitted.
• skirts, dresses, shorts, or skorts that are higher than fingertip length or appear provocative or immodest;
• unkempt sweat pants or sagging pants; spandex, biking, or boxer shorts;
• clothing with inappropriate words or symbols (defined as: any message, clearly understood or intended, that expresses profane or obscene language or meaning, street gang affiliation or
• advocacy, or that intends derogatory meaning regarding race, creed, religion, or national origin);
• clothing that promotes violence, sexual activity, alcohol, drugs, tobacco products, or any illegal activity or illegal goods;
• outer clothing such as jackets, overcoats, caps, or hats;
• an absence of undergarments.
• No leggings or pajama pants

Drop Off and Pick Up
Please remember that ALL student drop off and pick up is in the back the the Junior High School Building.  Please follow the traffic flow pattern when dropping off or picking up students.

Bus Depot
Recently we are having two issues in the Bus Depot with our Junior High Students.  Please remember to get on your buses as soon as possible.  Buses need to be on time for their elementary routes.  Too many students are "hanging out" in the center of the bus depot.  Also Junior High Students need to refrain from demonstrating public displays of affection in the depot (kissing).

Chromebooks
6th and 7th grade students - We have received notice that Chromebooks have been seen unattended during after school sporting practices/events. Please remember that you can return to your locker after practice to retrieve your Chromebook. Chromebooks should never be left unattended, in the gymnasium, or under a tree. It is important to remember that each student with a Chromebook signed an agreement at the beginning of the school year that states...

I will be responsible for my Chromebook at all times.

My Chromebook will never be left unattended
I will store my Chromebook in my secured locker at BJHS while at sports practices or after school activities.

Bus Notes
Reminder to all students - Bus notes to ride another bus home after school MUST be stamped in the office BEFORE the end of sixth hour.

Happy Birthday Today
