Alyssa is someone who always thinks of others first. She constantly goes out of her way to help out; she is honest, kind, and hard working. Alyssa's positive attitude is remarkably consistent and contagious. Alyssa's positivity is matched by her thoughtfulness - we are lucky to have her as a part of our school!
NATIONAL BULLYING AWARENESS AND PREVENTION MONTH
This week kicks off National Bullying Awareness and Prevention Month. Every morning, there will be a different message about what you can do to stop bullying! First of all, how do you define bullying? Bullying occurs when someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and they keep doing it, even when you tell them to stop or show them that you are upset. Bullying can take many forms. It can be physical, like hitting, kicking, or punching. It can also be social or emotional, like using words to hurt someone, leaving someone out, or gossiping and spreading rumors. Bullying can happen at school, in your neighborhood, or online.Adults may not see when someone is bullied. This happens because bullying often happens outside the view of adults. This is why is important to report bullying to an adult! Adults want to know about it and stop it from happening. UNITY DAY
The Unity Day shirt may be ordered now-look for the email from Mr. Hurley. The cost is only $10. Please have all orders in by Friday October 12th. Student Council will distribute the shirts before the event. Please plan on paying when you pickup your shirt.
SPORTS
The (jh) boys cross county team won the Monroe Milers Invitational on Saturday. They beat all 10 teams at the meet by working together and racing well. They were led by Josh G. once again who finished as the top runner for Bedford. 6th graders Aiden O., Aiden D., Jonas E., Noah C., and Landon D. all ran personal best times. Others running well were Avery V., Ethan., John B., and Grant S. Great win guys! The boys run next on Wednesday at Saline for the 3rd and final SEC league meet. Hopefully they can finish the season well with wins over their league rivals.
The girls cross country team won their fifth race this season at the Monroe Milers Invitational. On a looping course with a punishing hill that had to be climbed twice, the team stayed focused to earn their win. Scoring for the team were Bekah A., Ava R., Sydney D., Ally B., Katelyn D., Emma B., and Brooklyn M. Deanna M. continued her impressive streakof PR's. Izzy L. came just three seconds short of her personal record on a tough course after PRing in every race this season. Sarah D. and Olivia S. also had a strong showing. Congratulations to all of our runners!

Girls Who Code is a new club that will be starting Friday, October 12th from 2:45-4pm in room #34. All 6th and 7th grade girls are invited to join Mrs. Emery and her Daughter Hilary. No coding experience is required to participate in this club.
