STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Mrs Jakubowski nominated Sarah P. for student of the week. Sarah has been a positive presence in Spanish 1 this year. She has scored 100% on some chapter tests, and even managed a perfect score on the quarter 3 exam, which does not happen often. Sarah is a role model student athlete. She is kind to her peers and is deserving of recognition. Way to go, Sarah P!

TENNIS CLUB
7th and 8th Grade Tennis Club begins Friday, May 19th at 2:30 - 3:30 in Mrs. Vogel's room. A sign up sheet is posted outside of her classroom on the 2nd floor, number 206.
Tennis Club participants will be taught the basic strokes, rules of the game and play matches . This club is designed to introduce boys and girls to the game so they can play recreationally or continue on by pursuing lessons and trying out for the high school jv and varsity tennis teams. All levels are welcome.
LACROSSE
Bedford Jr. High Lacrosse traveled to Trenton yesterday and played a great game. There was a good amount of scoring done by a large variety of players. We also played a great game of defense with Kyle Costlow only allowing 2 goals in the 14 to 2 win. Offensively we looked very strong with 10 different players having goals and 4 more with assists. Here is the breakdown: Goals scored by Tony B, Jack M, Austin S, Jerik H, Josh G, Bryce B, Austin B, And Connor U. Caden F had 2 goals and Dillon D had 3. Assisting on the goals were Jaden T, Bryce B, Josh P, and Austin S. There were several other players that had great shots on goal that went just wide.

7TH GRADERS
If you signed up to take the America's Cultures placement essay, please be ready first hour Thursday, May 18th to take the test in the media center with Mr. Masters and Mrs. Smith. You will need to bring with you a couple of writing utensils.

Meal charges will NOT be accepted after Friday May 19th. Account balances need to be paid ASAP.
MANUFACTURING DAY
Any student in 7th grade that is interested in applying to attend Manufacturing Day in October needs to fill out an application. Manufacturing Day provides students with the opportunity to tour local industries with other students, explore career opportunities in manufacturing, and see a part of modern manufacturing. There are great jobs in Bedford in the field of manufacturing. Applications can be picked up from Mrs. Hemry. They are due to Mrs. Hemry on Friday, May 26.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Attention: All 8th Grade Boys interested in running cross country next fall at the high school. There will be an informational meeting in room G4 at the high school on Thursday May 18, 2017 at 6pm with Coach Earl. Information about the season, summer training, and cross country camp will be discussed. Those who are unable to attend Thursday evening can see Coach Davis at the junior high in room 217 for information missed...as paperwork for camp and deposits to save your spot are due by Thursday June 1, 2017.
M-STEP TESTING
7th grade testing is May 17
Please make sure your chromebook is charged every day. Please make sure you have a pair of earbuds for the listening portion of the test.
No electronic devices are allowed in the testing area. This includes cell phones, Apple watches and/or any other device. Any disruption can void the test of everyone in the room, so please make sure devices are powered off and in your locker.
BEDFORD ALUMNI FUNDRAISER
You are invited to attend the Indian Creek Zoo Open House Fundraiser to benefit all Bedford Varsity Programs and Stadium Improvements. Everyone is invited! Family friendly for all ages! The event will be held May 20, 2017 from 5-8 PM. The cost is $10 per person, children 2 and under are Free. Indian Creek Zoo is located at 2744 Consear Road. Shorts and skirts need to be past the palm of your hand and touch a portion of your fingers
Muscle shirts cannot have jagged cuts and must have an appropriate tank under the arms
All tops must have straps that are 2 fingertip widths or wider and must cover all parts of undergarments.
All tops must cover the waistband of your pants.
You will be asked to call home immediately if you are violating the dress code.

DROP OFF ITEMS
Students, if your parents drop off items for you during the day, they will be held at the front door with our door monitor. Students will only be called down during class change so as not to interrupt class time. Please listen to announcements during the class changes for your name. At that time, you may pick up your items from the door monitor.
YOUNG WRITER'S DAY
The Junior High will be holding a Young Writer's Day later this school year. This event celebrates creative writing and allows students to share and develop an original work of fiction in a safe and structured environment. This is open to all grade levels. If you are interested, pick up a form from Mrs. Matlow in room 35 or Mr. Lorenz in room 38.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Box Top collections !! This year we will be collecting box tops and having a friendly competition between home rooms. This is an easy way to fund raise for the extra things our classrooms my need throughout the year. Just ask your students and parents to clip and save. Deposit them in the collection boxes with your homeroom name on them (or place in Mrs. Nimigean's mailbox in the high school or Mr. Muck's mailbox in the junior high).We will collect for 3 months for each giveaway.Winners will be awarded the first of December, March and June (top collector in each building). Make sure you get them turned in for a homeroom treat!
