HALF DAY MAY 12, 2017
On our half day, May 12th, the high school is hosting a track invitational. Several schools will be traveling to the high school with large teams. This will cause some constraints with parent pick-up. We greatly encourage students who can ride the bus home, do so.
At 7:40, after drop-off, the road between the high school and junior high will be closed off. There will be no travel between the two buildings for parents, students or staff. In addition to this, the only parking area behind the junior high that will be available is the portion directly behind the school. The parking area behind the berm will be closed off to house buses from competing teams. The parent-pick up loop will be very tight and will potentially be slow-moving.
Again, we encourage students to ride the bus home on May 12th. If this is not an option, we appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.
Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade orchestras who put in solid performances at State Festival this past Friday. Both groups received solid and high second division ratings. You represented Bedford well! Congratulations!

Any 8th grade boys interested in running cross country next fall. There will be an informational meeting Monday May 15 at 6:00pm at the junior high school with Coach Earl in the Media Center. It is important to attend the meeting with a parent/guardian as many important dates and team information will be covered.
M-STEP TESTING
M-step testing begins:
7th grade testing is May 9, May 11, and May 16-17
Please make sure your chromebook is charged every day. Please make sure you have a pair of earbuds for the listening portion of the test.
No electronic devices are allowed in the testing area. This includes cell phones, Apple watches and/or any other device. Any disruption can void the test of everyone in the room, so please make sure devices are powered off and in your locker.
Students should be sure to get a good night's sleep and eat a hearty breakfast so they are ready to do their best!
ROBOTICS LAST DAY TO SIGN UP IS MAY 9, 2017
Hard work pays off! FIRST Tech Challenge events are amazing, inspiring experiences. Where else can you make new friends, share ideas, solve problems on the fly, compete like crazy, and get pumped up over technology all while having the time of your life? At FIRST Tech Challenge events, students realize more than ever that FIRST is all about teamwork, sharing, helping others, and respect.
Tomorrow is the last day to apply to be on a Bedford FTC robotics team.

8TH GRADE GIRL BASKETBALL PLAYERS - OPEN GYM
Attention 8th grade girl basketball players! If you are NOT involved in a spring sport, you are welcome to attend the high school open gyms to play basketball. Invitations to apply for NJHS membership for next year have been emailed to all students with a GPA of 3.7 or higher. Students should check their email for the invitation and links to the application and membership agreement. All applications and membership agreements will need to be printed and submitted by May 15th for consideration. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Copley Sansom.

With the warmer temperatures, please keep in mind we adhere to a dress code at the junior high school. Here is a portion of the dress code:
Shorts and skirts need to be past the palm of your hand and touch a portion of your fingers
Muscle shirts cannot have jagged cuts and must have an appropriate tank under the arms
All tops must have straps that are 2 fingertip widths or wider and must cover all parts of undergarments.
All tops must cover the waistband of your pants.
You will be asked to call home immediately if you are violating the dress code.

DROP OFF ITEMS
Students, if your parents drop off items for you during the day, they will be held at the front door with our door monitor. Students will only be called down during class change so as not to interrupt class time. Please listen to announcements during the class changes for your name. At that time, you may pick up your items from the door monitor.
YOUNG WRITER'S DAY
The Junior High will be holding a Young Writer's Day later this school year. This event celebrates creative writing and allows students to share and develop an original work of fiction in a safe and structured environment. This is open to all grade levels. If you are interested, pick up a form from Mrs. Matlow in room 35 or Mr. Lorenz in room 38.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Box Top collections !! This year we will be collecting box tops and having a friendly competition between home rooms. This is an easy way to fund raise for the extra things our classrooms my need throughout the year. Just ask your students and parents to clip and save. Deposit them in the collection boxes with your homeroom name on them (or place in Mrs. Nimigean's mailbox in the high school or Mr. Muck's mailbox in the junior high).We will collect for 3 months for each giveaway.Winners will be awarded the first of December, March and June (top collector in each building). Make sure you get them turned in for a homeroom treat!
