STUDENT OF THE WEEK
I would like to recognize Reagan Y. as student of the week.
Reagan has maintained 100% homework completion and exemplary test and quiz scores. She takes excellent notes and is willing to provide students who have been absent the use of her notes so that they can get caught up.
As an athlete Reagan is involved as a student leader . She promotes a positive sense of team both on and off the court.
She is an enthusiastic student in and out of class promoting respectful behavior to teachers, students and our school environment. She is always the first to great me with a huge smile and say good bye on her way to the bus.
Mrs. Pridgeon

PARENT INFORMATION
Did you know that students who legitimately use an opioid prescription are ⅓ more likely to misuse the drug by age 23 than those with no history of prescription use. The Student Prevention Leadership Team (SPLT) is campaigning against prescription drug abuse and heroin addiction. The strongest risk factor for heroin initiation is past abuse of opioids. If a child or a parent is prescribed opioid pain relievers after surgery or other medical procedures there is a possibility of becoming hooked to the drugs. Once they are hooked and all of the drugs are gone, they are most likely switch to heroin because it is cheaper than buying more prescription pills. When the doctor tells a patient to stop using medications or there is medication left over after past medical procedures, the pills should be disposed of in RedMed Box to avoid misuse.

In Monroe County
4.7% of 7th graders
5.1% of 9th graders
6.6% of 11th graders

Admitted to taking painkillers such as Oxycontin, Codeine, Vicodin, or Percocet without a doctor's prescription!
The BHS SPLT team would like to strongly urge you to dispose of old, out date, or unused prescriptions at one of the 6 RedBox Locations in Monroe County.
You can find RedMed boxes at the following locations:

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATIONBox Top collections !! This year we will be collecting box tops and having a friendly competition between home rooms. This is an easy way to fund raise for the extra things our classrooms my need throughout the year. Just ask your students and parents to clip and save. Deposit them in the collection boxes with your homeroom name on them (or place in Mrs. Nimigean's mailbox in the high school or Mr. Muck's mailbox in the junior high).

We will collect for 3 months for each giveaway.

Winners will be awarded the first of December, March and June (top collector in each building). Make sure you get them turned in for a homeroom treat!

HANDBOOK REMINDER
Students who are leaving school early for an appointment should remember to come to the office first thing in the morning before school starts to receive an exit pass. They should not give their notes to their teachers. Do not wait until lunch to receive your exit pass.

DROP OFF ITEMS
Students, if your parents drop off items for you during the day, they will be held at the front door with our door monitor. Please listen to announcements during the class changes for your name. At that time, you may pick up your items from the door monitor.

SAFETY REMINDER
When getting off of the bus in the morning, be sure to stay on the sidewalk to get to the junior high. Do not walk on the cement island.

CHROMEBOOKS
Students please remember to limit what you take to each class. Chromebooks can not be stacked on several books. Carrying several books increases the chance for your chromebook to slip and break.

HEALTH ROOM VISITSYou must report to your next hour teacher before coming to the health room unless it is an emergency. That way your teacher knows where you are.
