CROSS COUNTRY
GIRLS
The girls cross country team continued its dominant performance in our conference last night with another first place finish in the second SEC Jamboree. Belle Easton placed first, Molly Koviack placed fifth, Olivia Kruck placed ninth, Maddy Heinrichs placed twelfth, and Macy Miscikowski placed fourteenth out of 156 runners.
According to Athletic.net, which has over 16,000 8th grade runners listed, Belle Easton is ranked as the 21st fastest 8th grader in the country and the 8th fastest in the state of Michigan with a 2 mile time of 12:22. Belle has earned that success through persistence, resilience, and dedication. Everyone in Belle's class should clap now.
BOYS
The junior high boys cross country team took 2nd at the SEC league meet on Wednesday in Dexter. They were barely beaten by 2 points by Saline. The next closest team was Chelsea, who was 53 points behind Bedford, and the remaining 5 league teams were even farther behind. Bedford was led by superstar Ty Smith, who once again crushed everyone in the league to win the meet. 21 of the 26 boys ran personal best times. Micah Scheffer, Aiden Burns, Collin Balla, and Ethan Lingle rounded out the top 5 for Bedford behind Ty. Some of the runners who improved by more than 30 seconds were, Damien Robinson, Isaiah McGee, Nathan Reister, Chase Harrell, Colby Reaume, Kevin Payne, and Brayden Powell. Great race guys. Bedford is now one of the top 10 best boys cross country teams in the state of Michigan.
